Two halls, one name
Red Shores has two casinos on Prince Edward Island. Red Shores Racetrack & Casino stands at 58 Kensington Road in Charlottetown, and Red Shores at Summerside is at 55 Greenwood Drive. Both offer casino gaming, harness racing, food and drink, and lottery tickets. Atlantic Lottery operates them for the PEI Lotteries Commission, and this guide is independent of both.
Should you be choosing between them, the first difference is the gaming floor. Charlottetown has slots, a Table Games room, poker and roulette. Summerside has VLTs, or video lottery terminals, with no published slots or tables. If you prefer cards or a wheel, Charlottetown is the hall to choose.

Charlottetown: cards and racing
The Charlottetown casino has over 150 slots, from traditional reel slots to video slots. Its private Table Games room offers blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and baccarat. Ultimate Texas Hold'em is poker-based, but each player plays against the dealer rather than other players. Poker runs Thursday to Saturday, and roulette starts at 6 pm on those same three days.
Charlottetown Driving Park, the racetrack on the same property, was established in 1888 and runs live harness racing. The Simulcast Theatre shows races from other tracks every day from 11 am to midnight. O'Brien's Social Bar & Kitchen sits on the lower level. Red's serves Italian-inspired comfort food and has a 14-foot screen, while Top of the Park overlooks the Driving Park. Restaurant bookings are by phone only, at 902-620-4264.

Summerside: VLTs and the raceway
Red Shores at Summerside has a gaming floor of VLTs, video lottery terminals, and the number of machines is not published. No slots, table games or poker are published for this hall. Simulcast betting keeps the same hours as the gaming floor. Summerside Raceway was established in 1886 and is believed to be Canada's oldest continuously raced horse track.
Should you wish to eat, West End Bar & Grill is the full-service casual bar and restaurant on site, open every day from 11 am to 8 pm. Its phone number is 902-436-8203.

Hours in each hall
All hours are local Atlantic time. In Charlottetown, slots run Sunday to Wednesday from 11 am to 1 am, and Thursday to Saturday from 11 am to 2 am. Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and baccarat start at noon on Sunday, Friday and Saturday, and at 4 pm Monday to Thursday. Every table runs until close; no clock time is posted for that close.
Summerside's gaming floor is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 am to 11 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 1 am. Neither hall publishes holiday hours, so please call 902-620-4222 in Charlottetown or 902-888-5666 in Summerside first.
Getting there from the bridge
The Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick comes ashore at Borden-Carleton. From there, Summerside is the nearer hall at 17 km in a straight line, and Charlottetown the farther at 44 km. The two halls are 54 km apart. Roads are longer than these lines, which run between town points rather than casino doors.
If you are starting elsewhere, the distance tool on this page opens a route from your town. Moncton, New Brunswick, is 84 km from Summerside and 130 km from Charlottetown; Amherst, Nova Scotia, is 71 and 95 km. Parking details and bus stops are not published for either casino.
How far to each hall?
Straight lines between OpenStreetMap town points · roads are longer
From Borden-Carleton, Summerside is the nearer hall, by 27 km in a straight line.
Age and the Rewards Club
The gaming floors at both halls are for guests 19 and older. The Lotteries Commission Act also bans selling a lottery or race ticket to anyone under 19. Red Shores Rewards Club membership is free and is arranged at the Rewards Club Desk in the Charlottetown casino. Please bring valid government-issued photo ID.
Slots earn 1 point for every $2 played. At the tables, points depend on length of play and average bet, and the card goes to the dealer before play begins. An account with no activity for 12 months in a row is deleted, along with its points.
Online play in PEI
The provincially regulated way to play casino games online in PEI is alc.ca, run by Atlantic Lottery for the PEI Lotteries Commission. The province has no licensing or registration for private online casinos. Its 2023 to 2028 gambling strategy says offshore online operators have no authority to conduct and manage lottery programs in PEI. Atlantic Lottery says other gambling sites cannot legally operate or advertise in Atlantic Canada, and that a foreign licence does not change this.
To be plain about this guide: its Ad links go to one private online casino partner, not to alc.ca. That partner pays the guide a commission, and it can change. Please weigh the points above before you follow any link marked Ad.
Help and breaks
- The PEI Gambling Support Line, 1-855-255-4255, is toll-free, confidential and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- PlayWise hubs at both halls offer information on healthy play, and a PlayWise Advisor answers at 902-620-4267 or [email protected].
- Break in Play covers both gaming floors for 30, 60 or 90 days or 6, 12, 24 or 36 months, and a confirmed break cannot be cancelled.
